Thanks for all the birthday wishes 
It was the first birthday away from family and to be honest, while trying to push that blatant fact to the back of my mind, I realised that I’d almost forgotten about my “other” family – the friends that have become like family made SURE I didn’t miss home too much
I would write about the events surrounding this birthday, but it’s one of those things which can’t be described – words really fail me. And where words fail me, emotions usually take over, so just this once, you as a reader will have to participate in the effectiveness of this post: picture a teary-eyed me (with slight hints of ‘the smile’) and that’s all you need to do.
