Pablo Neruda

'I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

that this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.'

Every day

last week i walked to the beach and i watched as the sun set on the horizon
two days ago, i saw a baby watch curiosly as a butterfly fluttered over his head
yesterday, i walked to the patio and saw the rain trickle down on the flowers
today, i came home and i saw your smile waiting me.
we, just like every single day, only get better

How's it going to be?

You really have to understand, we’re constantly going through it. I mean, HOW can it just be a temporary phase? It’s continually there, if not nagging in the back of your head, then so-obviously-slapped on your forehead.
Actually, in our case, it’s just always so obviously-slapped on our heads, so deal.

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Alex ask Marty (or vice versa) something along the lines of :
‘You’re not so good with the whole putting-the-words-together-and-them-coming-out-right thing are you?”

Ending this long long post with the following piece, which was inspired by a presentation, a highly recommended course and of course, the mystery that will eternally remain – our country:
Tum a’o gulshan – e- Lahaur se chaman bardosh
Hum a’en subh e Banaras ki raushni le kar
Himalayas ki havaon ki tazgi le kar
Phir uske baad yeh puchen ke kaun dushman hai
You come covered with flowers from the
Garden of Lahore
We bring to you the light and radiance of
the morning of Banaras,
the freshness of the winds of the Himalayas
And then we ask who the enemy is.
[Ali Sardar Jafri]

Double sigh.
What little we know of our past, our culture, our surroundings, our religion, our people…our reality is quite frightening.

With that level of mentality, it’s not surpising that our today is what it is right now. Moreover; that really says a lot about the kind of futures we’re getting ourselves into.

Wish

So, so you think you can tell

There was a time when everything felt right,
where everything fit into place
without even needing to try.
There was once a you, once a me.
Time was on our side.
Eternity was our destination.

How I wish you were here

I sense a change, a change from change itself.
It’s there, around the bend.
Its veils are flowing with the winds
of time
carressing you, embracing you
binding you
to me

We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl

The world is spinning again today
watching us
as fiery shades settle into soft hues
let’s spin it again once more
and make all of our todays
settle into better tomorrows

Year after Year

Here is tomorrow
and if they come again
we can tell them
that there was once a you
once a me
but we can show them
that there is now an us
where we don’t need them
anymore

Poem

We interrupt the story to bring you some fine poetry. Thank you, you know who you are. I am touched beyond imagination :)

As I stand here,
Anxious, engulfed by fear
At a new avenue
Unsure of what to do

This junction is busier
And barely familiar
But I vaguely remember
That I had once before surrendered

Novelty was at its peak,
Glistening down at me, looking meek
New people, new faces
New streets, new places

I was besieged, on all four sides
By heavy clouds that would soon glide
above me, and pour all their anger and misery out
But where should I go and shout?

Suddenly I saw the sun fighting with all its might
Against the dark clouds, and I saw a streak of light
And I realized that there is always hope
I promised myself “I must be God’s will, and I must try to cope”
